Mike Williams is set to make his debut against the division rival Raiders next week and has been listed as inactive for today’s game against the Giants. The Chargers No. 7 overall pick in the 2017 draft has been recovering from a disc injury in his back sustained earlier in the offseason.
While the Chargers coaching staff had discussed whether or not to place Williams on the PUP to begin the year, the question now becomes how soon does the team thrust their young wideout into the starting lineup? The Chargers drafted the wide receiver out of Clemson to be a piece for the future so while its not impossible that Williams could be starting to begin the game against Oakland it does seem a bit unlikely.
Head Coach Anthony Lynn and staff will probably take their time working the rookie into NFL games but once he’s comfortable who’s spot does he take in the lineup? Keenan Allen is locked in as WR1 which means it’ll be either Travis Benjamin or Tyrell Williams.
Who’s wide receiver spot do you think Mike Williams takes when he’s ready to play extended snaps? Give you answers in the comments.
