I have a lot of questions heading into this game. Chief among them might be whether or not I still care about this rivalry between Eli Manning and the fans of the Chargers.
Now that the team is in Los Angeles, and most of the fans of the team are not fans of the ownership or the front office, who cares about things that Archie Manning said 13 years ago?
And without Shawne Merriman or Nate Kaeding in the NFL anymore, who cares about the trade that happened back in 2004 anyway?
Is there a rivalry here? Is there any reason to care? Should the Los Angeles Chargers and their fans have a special place of hatred in their hearts for the New York Giants? I don’t really see why.
That being said, both teams are 0-4 and one of them is the Chargers and that team is coached by Anthony Lynn, who probably doesn’t want to start his (non-interim) head coaching career with an 0-5 or 0-8 or oh-and-anything record. If the players love their new coach, they’ll fight hard to get him this win before playing against tougher competition in the next few weeks.
