Chargers’ Philip Rivers on loss to Patriots: ‘There are no participation trophies’ - Will Hernandez
“Just missed opportunities…There are no participation trophies, but we’re right there (with them),” Rivers said, per the Chargers’ Twitter account.

Melvin Gordon breaks loose, but Patriots tame Chargers on the road - Eric Williams
“Melvin came into the game sore a little bit, but I thought he played extremely hard,” Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said. “He left a couple yards out there on the field, but I thought he played well.”

Los Angeles Chargers DE Joey Bosa Sets NFL Sack Record - Daniel Stebbins
Since then, he has been nothing short of incredible, just ask any team who has had to game plan against him. Rarely will you see him not double-teamed and even then he finds a way to be a force from wherever he lines up. Also benefiting from his abilities are those around him. It’s no coincidence that Melvin Ingram (great in his own right) and Chris McCain are having career seasons while playing along side Bosa.

Why Bolts Remain Confident Despite Frustrating Defeat - Ricky Henne
“The team is real confident right now,” Head Coach Anthony Lynn said. “And the team knows that we left too much on the field today. They know that. I think they will come back, confident and fresh, and I think we will play well in this third quarter of the season.”

3 takeaways from Chargers’ 21-13 loss vs. Patriots - Will Hernandez
Lynn’s reluctance to switch to the pass has hurt the Chargers all season, and at a certain point, he needs to realize it’s not working. When quarterback Philip Rivers hit his receivers in the open field, the Bolts had a lot of success. Yet, Lynn still opted to stick with the run on early downs.

Bolts Kicking Themselves Over Self-Inflicted Mistakes - Ricky Henne
“We left plays out there,” Jahleel Addae said. “We had a chance to bring home the W and didn’t. It’s tough because it’s that one play you keep thinking about. Despite my (overall) performance, it’s that one play I had on third down when I missed the tackle (I keep thinking of). That was an explosive play instead of making the tackle and getting off the field on third down. It’s those little things that beat you, and we left a lot out there.”

Instant analysis: Chargers comeback falls short in 21-13 loss - Will Hernandez
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw for 333 yards and one touchdown, but New England’s the running game only rushed for 97 yards. Considering how porous the Bolts’ defense against the run was to start the season, the improvement in that department is definitely a positive.
