Joey Bosa set an NFL sack record today while taking on the New England Patriots.
Making history. @jbbigbear now has the most sacks by any player in NFL history over his first 20 games. #LACvsNE pic.twitter.com/ynBurjD0Ua

Never has an NFL player had as many sacks as Bosa (19) through their first 20 games. The previous record holder was Aldon Smith with 18.5.
Bosa, drafted in 2016, started off his career in an interesting way, missing training camp and the preseason in a highly publicized contract hold out. After agreeing to terms finally, he then had injury issues which caused him to miss the first four games and make his debut in week five against the Oakland Raiders. He would show immediately what we would see going forward as he had two sacks and made a huge impact on the game.
Since then, he has been nothing short of incredible, just ask any team who has had to game plan against him. Rarely will you see him not double-teamed and even then he finds a way to be a force from wherever he lines up. Also benefiting from his abilities are those around him. It’s no coincidence that Melvin Ingram (great in his own right) and Chris McCain are having career seasons while playing along side Bosa.
Recently, Kyle Posey did a wonderful piece on just how great Bosa and the other “Sack Bros.” have been this season, if you haven’t seen it check it out here.
Here is the record breaking sack, as tweeted by the Chargers’ official twitter account.
