REPORT: Chargers LG Matt Slauson possibly done for the season

Word on the street is Matt Slauson is done for the year with a torn Biceps

NFL: Los Angeles Chargers at Denver Broncos Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Chargers managed to shut out the Denver Broncos on Sunday, but it appears they didn’t get away from the game clean.

There hasn’t been an official announcement yet, probably because Slauson will have an MRI today to confirm any injury, but this would be a big change.

Rookie 3rd round Dan Feeney came in the game to play for Slauson and would take over as the starter at LG going forward if Slauson is indeed done. Slauson is a great guy, and is a great leader on that OL, but in this offense Feeney will likely be an improvement on the field.

Feeney moves MUCH better than Slauson at this point and we will likely see a slight bump in the run blocking going forward. Feeney made key blocks on a TD drives in back to back weeks now, and looks to be ready to take on increased snaps.

Where this does hurt is with depth. If Slauson is gone, that means the only backup IOL is Michael Schofield, however Schofield has been playing in place of Joe Barksdale (Turf Toe) at RT. The only G on the practice squad is Brett Boyko, so if the team is serious about continuing to be successful this season, they are likely going to need to bring in a veteran IOL.
