Los Angeles Chargers vs. Denver Broncos Open Thread

NFL: Los Angeles Chargers at Denver Broncos Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers (2-4) play host to their divisional rivals, the Denver Broncos (3-2) this afternoon. After opening the season 0-4, the Chargers have won consecutive road games against the New York Giants and Oakland Raiders. With a win today, they would have an opportunity go get back to .500 before their bye in week 9.

Melvin Gordon and Keenan Allen are both banged up, but both are going to play. Joe Barksdale and Corey Liuget are notable inactives, though. The Broncos lost three players to injury on Friday. They are thin at tackle with Donald Stephenson and Menelik Watson expected to miss the game. They are also lacking depth at wide receiver with Emmanuel Sanders and Cody Latimer also ruled out for today. Trevor Siemian, at least, is expected to play, so Chargers fans won’t get to watch Brock Osweiler try to play quarterback which is unfortunate.

Philip Rivers looked very nearly like his old self last week and the Chargers finally appeared able to close out a win with their running game. This afternoon’s contest is a huge challenge, but one has to think that Los Angeles is up to it.
