Mike Williams, drafted out of Clemson by the Los Angeles Chargers with the 7th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, is finally recovered from a back injury he suffered in the first day of rookie mini camp and will make his NFL debut against the Oakland Raiders today.
Chargers’ 1st-round pick Mike Williams will make his NFL debut Sunday vs Raiders after battling a back injury since off-season, per source.

Outside of Joey Bosa, Mike Williams is the highest drafted player by the Chargers since picking Eli Manning with the #1 overall selection in 2004. That high draft position means that Williams is expected to be an impact player, and Philip Rivers could use his help right away.
Rivers’ current passer rating is 86.0, good for 22nd in the NFL this year and 2nd worst in Philip’s career. He hasn’t had much time to work with the rookie WR, but hopefully the Oakland Raiders’ defense at least respects Williams enough for it to open holes in the defense and keep the pressure off of Rivers in the pocket.
