Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Chargers signed wide receivers Jamaal Jones and Da’Ron Brown to reserve/future contracts.
Jones was signed last year by the Chargers as an undrafted free agent but was placed on the reserve-injured list after he was injured near the beginning of training camp. He was eventually waived in August. A productive college player out of Montana, the 6’1”, 189-pound Jones went undrafted in spite of holding career receiving records and garnering second-team All-American honors. He’s a moderately interesting player and could potentially catch on at the bottom of the roster in 2017.
The Bolts’ other signing, Brown, was drafted two years ago in the 7th round by the Kansas City Chiefs. He flashed some ability in the preseason but ultimately ended up on the Chiefs’ practice squad in 2015. Last season, he was waived and bounced from one practice squad to another spending time with the New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, and New England Patriots.
Neither player is likely to be a big part (or even a part) of the Chargers’ future, but we will just have to wait and see.
