It seems as though there is already a bit of rivalry growing between Los Angeles’ two franchises, the Chargers and the Rams. On Tuesday night, Philip Rivers and Joey Bosa appeared on Jimmy Kimmel where they vowed to be the best team in L.A. Star cornerback Jason Verrett echoed that same confidence on Thursday.

When asked by a reporter from TMZ who he thought football fans in the Los Angeles area should embrace more, Verrett did not hesitate with his answer. The bolts Pro-Bowl corner quickly answered; “Chargers….because we’re the better team”.
The Chargers were the better team this season, by one game. As far if they are still the better team at this point or if they will be heading into next season, well, that is up for discussion. The Los Angeles Rams have a very young and talented defense led by one of the premier defensive linemen in the league, Aaron Donald. And to make that unit scarier than it already is, the Rams recently hired defensive genius and former Broncos defensive coordinator Wade Phillips as their DC.
On offense is where the Rams have struggled. First overall pick Jared Goff looked overwhelmed in his rookie year, the offensive line was bad, and Todd Gurley was never able to get going. However the Rams do still possess some weapons on offense, including the previously mentioned Gurley, and new head coach Sean McVay looks to turn his offensive unit around.
The Chargers have a talented defense of their own with players including Jason Verrett, Joey Bosa, Casey Heyward, and Jatavis Brown among others. Led by Philip Rivers, the Chargers currently boast a better offense than the Rams.
Time will tell if the Chargers are actually the better team in Los Angeles, but it looks like the players are going to have some fun in the process.
