Bovada has released the Over/Under for a few stats for players around the NFL. We’ll be taking a look at some of the Chargers they released odds for over the next few days. And we’re starting with Melvin Gordon.
Total Rushing Yards: 875
If Gordon plays all 16 games, he would only need to average 55 yards per game to hit the Over. That’s not even 10 yards per game better than he managed in his disappointing rookie season. Even if you assume that it’s normal for a running back to miss a couple games, Gordon would need only 62.5 yards per game over 14 games to hit 875. With an improved interior line in front of him and faster decision making that he has demonstrated in training camp and the preseason, it seems unlikely that Gordon would fail to hit this mark if healthy.
Total Rushing & Receiving TD: 4.5
Taking the Over on touchdowns scored might seem overly optimistic given that Gordon still has not found his way into the end zone during a regular season game. But the Chargers should have a superior offense this year and Gordon looks like an improved player. He would only need to score a touchdown once every three games to eclipse 4.5 touchdowns. It looks like the coaches want to feature him this year, so that should be within reach.
