Joey Bosa is not in pads today during the team's first practice session before the season opener at Kansas City on September 11th. According to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune, the number 3 overall pick has been dealing with some “tightness” and not is participating in team drills.
Chargers DE Joey Bosa dealing with some "tightness," source said. Team easing him into action. Not practicing today. Yet to practice in pads

After missing almost all of training camp it would be nice to have Bosa practicing in pads. However, it is understandable that the team wants to bring him along slowly to avoid the risks that come along with throwing everything at him all at once. I wouldn't be too concerned over Bosa’s reported “tightness”.
Though I believe Bosa when he said he was working his tail off in his absence, there simply is not a substitute for working drills in a team environment at an NFL practice. Even coming back in great shape, there is bound to be some soreness and tightness and everything else that comes with getting ready to play in an NFL game. Bosa will be alright, and hopefully practicing in pads soon.
