The San Diego Chargers and every other NFL team had to get down to a 53-man roster from 75 by 1:00 today. The Chargers accomplished this by making the following roster moves:
Waived-Injured
WR Rasheed Bailey
ILB Shaq Petteway
Waived
QB Mike Bercovici
OT Brett Boyko
CB Richard Crawford
OLB Ben Gardner
RB Gus Johnson
DT Kamal Johnson
OG/OT Marcel Jones
S Adrian McDonald
DT Chuka Ndulue
WR DeAndre Reaves
ILB James Ross
CB Larry Scott
TE Tim Semisch
FB Chris Swain
OG Vi Teofilo
OLB James Vaughters
TE Matt Weiser
WR Dom Williams
CB Trevor Williams
Reserve-Suspended
Damion Square
Exempt
DE Joey Bosa
There are no real surprises in the group and many of these had already been reported. If you had to identify a surprise, it would likely be that the Chargers appear to have kept more safeties than most would have guessed [EDITOR’S NOTE: It turns out that Chargers.com initially left off McDonald from the cut list.]. There are still roster moves to come, though. Bosa will have to come off the exempt list. Square’s suspension will end in a few weeks. And the Chargers will almost certainly claim or sign another player that will necessitate another move.
