We knew this was coming, but it doesn’t make it any less painful. Keenan Allen’s MRI today came back positive for a torn ACL and he was placed on the IR, ending his 2016 season.
Chargers place Keenan Allen (ACL) on IR. Joey Bosa activated to 53-man roster.

I think everyone was looking forward to Keenan Allen having a great bounce back year after missing half of last season. Well that comeback is now going to have to wait another year.
This is absolutely deflating. You could tell the players got deflated on the field when KA went down as well. KA had shown great leadership and work ethic all offseason and was emerging as a leader in the locker room.
As you can see from Gehlken’s tweet, the corresponding move the team made was to activate Joey Bosa. Hopefully that means Bosa will see the field in a game in the next week or two. What this also means is that the team still hasn’t decided how to fill Keenan’s absence at WR. I would expect a decision to be made quickly, maybe even later today, whether they are just going to promote Dom Williams from the practice squad, bring in someone from the street, or maybe even a trade.
