The practice today was loose, fun and full of action, unlike the stale Special Teams drills the team tried to pawn off as FanFest last Saturday. Travis Benjamin and Javontee Herndon did not suit up today and neither did Sean Lissemore or Tenny Palepoi but you know who did practice today? Keenan Allen and Denzel Perryman.
Tyrell Williams did his best TO impression today looking almost unstoppable catching 3 TDs in practice plus he put a little stank on it too. In 1-on-1 drills today he was matched up with CB Casey Hayward and Hayward ended up getting the incompletion on tight coverage. Williams then rolled his finger around to signal to go again and said something to the effect of "run it back." Hayward didn't hear Williams and was walking back to the sideline when a coach yelled out "Casey, Tyrell wants to go again." Hayward swings around points at his chest and runs to go at it again. The result of that play was a TD that left Hayward standing still. Here it is (you might have to view in on Vine):
Casey Hayward won round one vs. Tyrell Williams. Round two here belonged to the WR. #ChargersCamp https://t.co/YDEnUH5aNW

As an encore, to end 11-on-11's Tyrell Williams caught back-to-back TD passes to end the session. That's not even including all the other catches Williams racked up today. Excellent.
Dontrelle Inman also had a big day. He scored 2 TDs in 1-on-1s and gained separation on Jason Verrett for a streaking completion. Far and away his best day of camp.
Hunter Henry went full extension on a high throw from Rivers to set the team up for 1st and goal. When I say Henry hasn't dropped a pass in practice, I'm telling you I am specifically zoned in on Henry in every drill and look to his side during live action to see if today is the day I witness the first drop, and it still has not happened.
Orlando Franklin had a key reach block on Corey Liuget to spring Woodhead for a long run and the jumped offsides the very next play. Bad move in the red zone drills but he does seem to be more comfortable with Slauson next to him.
Now Max Tuerk was a mess today. He rolled a snap that went between Clemens' legs, and Jerry Attaochu recovered the fumbled. Head Coach Mike McCoy yelled "C'mon Max!" afterward because it probably would've been a gutterball anyway. Two plays later he one-hopped a snap that Clemens was able to collect and throw out of bounds to stop him from getting sacked. It was not a good look. Also, Tuerk has a brace on his right knee. Not surprising but still worth mentioning.
Jatavis Brown got his first interception of camp so far. Mettenberger was real late on a throw that Steve Williams batted up in the air. Brown dove to make the grab, and the defense celebrated. The 5th round pick seems to be picking things up pretty quickly because he looks more and more comfortable with each practice.
Even though he got beat by Tyrell Williams the second time around, Casey Hayward held his own for most of the day. So did Brandon Flowers. Flowers (outside of getting smoked by Tyrell last week) and Hayward have had strong showings for most of camp.
Darius Philon and Manti Te'o both had plays behind the line of scrimmage. Philon shot a gap and met Gordon in the backfield. Te'o also had a pass break-up on a pass to Antonio Gates.
Ryan Carrethers got some looks with the second team defense and made a stop at the line on a run up the middle. Damion Square was then shuffled in, but at least he's getting some meaningful looks with the 2s.
