Starting RG D.J. Fluker was injured in yesterday’s practice and was seen in a walking boot and crutches after practice. Ballcoach Mike McCoy promised that Fluker would have an MRI and they would go from there.
That MRI happened.
Mike McCoy said D.J. Fluker MRI "came out negative," which is a positive. Added won't give team's first injury report until week of opener.— Michael Gehlken (@sdutGehlken) August 23, 2016
As usual McCoy is cryptic with the injury updates. We assume “negative” means it was negative for any serious injury. Hopefully that means Fluker will be back by the start of the season. He did also mention that DJ came to camp in great shape this year and has been putting in a lot of good work.
UDFA Spencer Pulley took 1st team snaps in Fluker’s spot today and should see a healthy amount of snaps in the preseason game on Sunday, as this is typically the game that the “starters” go the longest.
All in all, this is a bit of a relief since the back up linemen are either also banged up or just not very good. Come back soon D.J.
