San Diego Chargers training camp is very nearly over and the front office will not even pick up the phone to call the agents representing Joey Bosa. ESPN Business Analyst Andrew Brandt reports via Twitter:
Bosa's agents/Chargers execs aren't talking, thinking show of weakness if reached out. Both sides w/arms folded saying "They should call!"

Chargers General Manager Tom Telesco discussed the standoff on XTRA Sports 1360:
Tom Telesco on Joey Bosa: "The next update will be when its done. It's not done yet. I don't want to get in the play by play of it."

I understand that Telesco doesn’t want to get into “the play by play,” but how much can there be to say about a situation in which neither side is talking? The team is afraid to show weakness by making the first move. Newsflash: they made the first move when they selected him third overall in the NFL Draft. Now is the time to get that pick signed whatever it takes. Perhaps someone in the front office should take future Hall of Famer Antonio Gates’ advice and “be a man” instead of sitting around afraid of being perceived as weak.
That this nonsense is still ongoing is an embarrassment, and it needs to end. Tom Telesco is right. There needs to be a compromise. Step 1 is actually reaching out to the other side. What are the Chargers waiting for?
