The San Diego Chargers start minicamp today, and they do so without their 1st round pick Joey Bosa.
Chargers DE Joey Bosa not at minicamp today amid stalemate in contract discussions, sources say. Why the hold up: https://t.co/nLR9g6nVpU

Bosa is skipping minicamp, on the advice of his agents, due to an issue with his contract negotiations. Joey is the only player in the top 19 picks from this season that remains unsigned. The issue is due to offset language. Basically Bosa and his camp would like the entire contract guaranteed, which would allow him to "double dip" if he is released before the end of his rookie deal. The Chargers, obviously, do not want to do that.
According to the article from Gehlken, of the 9 other top 5 picks over the last 2 years, only 3 of the 9 got contracts set up the way Joey is asking for. The team and Bosa's camp will continue to negotiate and try to find a compromise, hopefully before training camp.
