I don't know anything about this player. I'm am going to watch what he did against the Chargers and update this post with a clip when I'm finished to give you an idea. What I do know is that there's a strong chance he played better than any interior lineman for San Diego last year. I did reach out to some friends who have seen him play and here's what they had to say about Slauson.
@KP_Show Consistent Pro. Doesn't miss a snap in games/practice. Can fill in @ C if needed. Strong @ POA but not as quick to get to 2nd level

@KP_Show Honestly was the best offensive lineman in Chicago the last 3 years. Just doesn't fit the offensive scheme, want more athletic OL

Sounds good to me. For what it's worth, Slauson graded out as Pro Football Focus's 5th highest center last year. He also just turned 30 years old. You know what's more important than PFF's grade on him? Someone astutely pointed out to me that his current overall Madden ranking is 81. What else do you need to know?
If that's not enough my guy Brandon Thorn who scouts offensive lineman daily sent me these and he feels like Slauson is 1 of the most underrated offensive lineman in the league.

#Bears OG/C Matt Slauson = underrated in 2015 pic.twitter.com/N09UgGVcqe

Finally, from a Bears fan.
@KP_Show @VeteranScout you guys are (potentially) getting a very good guard. IMO this was a mistake from Pace

UPDATE: Here is a clip of Slauson versus the Chargers. Ryan Carrethers gave him all he could handle but other than that he did a fine job at the 2nd level and didn't have problems with anyone else.
Carrethers kinda gave him the business(beat him 4x) but Slauson did a good job at the 2nd level & vs everyone else pic.twitter.com/w5WROh5zrO

So what do you guys think, center just in case my man crush Max isn't ready to start the year? Guard to push Franklin and Fluker? Just a depth signing? The team was 4-12 and largely ineffective on offense due to their interior line. Even with the heavy investments, Slauson is likely going to be 1 of the best 5 lineman that the Chargers can field. He hasn't signed yet. I'm guessing he will based on old Tom's track record.
If he’s in the building. Telesco has a better closing rate than a shirtless Channing Tatum at a sorority house https://t.co/gs0xIJrZGF
