At this point in the offseason, teams are allowed a 90 man roster. The team made a pair of roster moves today sending S Matt Daniels to the IR and signing rookie ILB James Ross to get them back to 90 players.
Ex-Michigan LB James Ross officially has signed, source says. Chargers back to full 90-man roster after S Matt Daniels' IR designation.

Matt Daniels spent time on both the practice squad and the active roster for the Chargers last season. The safety position is already pretty thin. However Dexter McCoil and Jatavis Brown are both listed as LB's on the roster and could see some snaps at safety, especially McCoil.
James Ross is a strange addition to me. He tested horribly on his Pro Day. Not only is he small, 5'11" 232lbs, but he is NOT athletic, 5.01 40yrd dash, 7.38 3-cone, 8'9" broad jump, 26" vert. In that order, here is how he would have placed at the combine for linebackers, next to last, next to last, next to last, last. "Well maybe he performed on the field?" Not anything special. His best season was 2 years ago as a Sophomore, 84 total tackles, 5.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 1 PD, 2 FF. In the 2 years since then he had 67 tackles combined, 8.5 TFL, 1 sack, 0 PD, 0 FF. When I pulled up some tape on him, it does look like he has decent awareness of where to be in pass coverage, but he looks pretty stiff and slow. He's a camp body from what I can tell.
