First we thought it would be the Raiders. Then this morning news leaked that Eric Weddle was visiting the Patriots. Then out of nowhere, this happens.
Eric Weddle is signing with the Baltimore Ravens, per source.

The Ravens are widely known as a great organization but are coming off of a year where they won 1 more game than the Chargers and have plenty of holes on the roster themselves so this is an interesting choice for Weddle. As far as the contract numbers go:
Ravens gave former Chargers S Eric Weddle a 4-year, $26 million deal, including $13 million in first two years, per source.

Maximum compensation for Weddle is $29m. Heck of a deal for the 31-year old safety.

Weddle will earn $9 million this year. I'm happy for him and I hope he proves everyone wrong that he still has something left in the tank. I know there is a pretty big group of Charger fans that don't like the how he handled the situation and I get that. To say he quit on the team is so far from the truth. There were games where Weddle had no business being out there and it looked like he was playing on 1 leg and still gave it his all. He's been one of my favorite players to watch over the past 9 years and I even though he's been widely regarded as a top safety, I still don't feel like he gets his due.
This play is Weddle in a nutshell. Avoids a blocker, makes a tackle for 2 that would've probably been a 20 yard gain. He's the best, man. I hope he finds balls out the next 4 years. No grudges on my end. For 4 more years Weddle will have to erase the mistakes that Shareece Wright made. So I'm looking forward to that.
How do you guys feel about the deal and his landing spot?
