Chargers' early combine meetings focus on Defensive Line

With the Combine under way, the Chargers have been lining up meetings with the top talents in the draft along the defensive front.

The NFL's annual underwear olympics, aka the NFL Scouting Combine, is underway in Indianapolis. It is probably the most high profile draft season event and the first place where the higher ups in the Chargers staff will personally meet with prospects.

So who have the Chargers been meeting with?

What do these 3 men have in common? Spence is being viewed by many as the top pass rushing OLB in this draft, Robinson is being viewed by many as the best DT in the draft, and Nkemdiche is being viewed as one of the top DE/DT's in the draft (if you can ignore his off field concerns). It also has not been confirmed, but I have heard they plan to meet with Deforest Buckner as well.

This is encouraging. Defensive line is obviously a position that needs drastic improvement so for the team to be having formal meetings with some of the top names at those positions is encouraging.

If you are one of those people that likes to read into things, all 3 of those players they met with are really not top 5 picks. So what could that mean? Just doing their due diligence? Are they preparing for who may be available if they trade down? Are they hoping one of them slips so Tom Telesco can pull off his signature "take my 2nd and 4th so I can move up" and try to grab one of them at the back end of the 1st?

Who knows at this point, but it sure is fun to have the offseason fully underway and see the Chargers meeting with top names in the draft.
