The last place San Diego Chargers (whom some are calling the best 5-6 team in the league) play host today to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs have been one of the best teams in the NFL over the last few weeks scoring wins over the Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs (in Arrowhead), and Seattle Seahawks. The Chargers meanwhile have sandwiched a loss to the Miami Dolphins between convincing wins over the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans. Unfortunately for Chargers fans, Tampa Bay is not an AFC South team.
Tampa's offense is powered primarily by the presence of wide receiver Mike Evans and to a lesser degree by running back Doug Martin who rushed for 87 yards against a tough Seattle defense last week. But it's their defense that should have the Chargers and their fans nervous. Over the last three games, the Bucs defense has allowed only three touchdowns while collecting 10 sacks.
Can the Chargers keep Philip Rivers upright long enough to match the Bucs' explosive offense? Can Joey Bosa and the Bolts defense slow down Jameis Winston and co.?
