Following Kenneth Farrow’s being placed on Injured Reserve yesterday, recent free agent acquisition Ronnie Hillman was left as the lone remaining healthy running back on the active roster. As such, the Chargers needed another body at the position. They have turned to third-year pro Andre Williams who was been on the practice squad for most of the season.

Williams found himself on the active roster for two weeks earlier in the season when Tom Telesco claimed him off waivers from the New York Giants before the season. Williams has not been a terribly efficient runner during his career, but he is a physical runner and has shown that he can play at the NFL level.

The empty slot on the practice squad will be filled by Gus Johnson who was briefly with the team during the preseason. Chargers fans last saw him carrying the ball nine times against the 49ers in the preseason finale. Since then he has spent time on the Atlant Falcons practice squad.
