Chargers vs. Raiders: Fantasy Football Start/Sit Advice, Week 15

Wanting to know who to start this week from the Chargers/Raiders game? Here’s everything you need to know.

NFL: San Diego Chargers at Oakland Raiders Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

So I was pretty wrong last week about my projections because the Chargers just completely crapped the bed. Not cool for us fantasy football players.

What it makes me think, is that the Chargers may actually be in on the tank, and are playing just poorly enough that no one will suspect it, outside of the fans who actually want them to tank. When was the last time Philip Rivers turned the ball over 5 times in a game? He looked like a subpar quarterback who couldn’t lock down a job and was feeling the pressure. Unacceptable.

No one who I thought would play well last week, actually played well. Gates was okay in PPR, Hunter Henry was only okay because he had a TD (but less than 20 yards receiving). Everyone else was bad. Philip Rivers scored all of 10 points, Tyrell Williams wasn’t good, and neither was Josh Lambo. The Chargers were just straight up bad last week.

Want to know who to start from the Chargers? No one. Absolutely no one. You can’t trust Rivers, you can't trust Melvin Gordon (because he’s not playing), you can’t trust either TE because they don’t get enough targets, and you can’t trust Josh Lambo because the Chargers can barely move the ball right now. So, here’s who you should start from the Raiders this week.

Start

Derek Carr

He had an awful week last week. Like, worse than Philip Rivers week. He scored less than 5 points. That is completely ridiculously awful. 117 yards. He’s going to turn it around this week and have a solid game. I expect him to probably throw an INT, but play a clean game with 2 TDs outside of that. He probably won’t need to throw a whole lot in the 2nd half if we’re being honest.

Latavius Murray

He’s been pretty inconsistent this season, after winning a lot of people their leagues last year (including me). The last 5 weeks, he’s been fire, scoring no less than 14.2 points, and scoring over 25 points twice. He’s a must-start despite the Chargers run D stats because the Chargers aren’t very good against backs who can catch the ball. I would

Sebastian Janikowski

The Chargers allow 26.7 points per game, which is 29th worst in the league. Janikowski has been one of the best kickers in the league over his career, and I expect the Raiders to put up quite a few points against the Chargers this week. I’d expect somewhere between 8-12 points.

Raiders DST

The Chargers are bound to turn over the ball at least twice, right? Also, the O-line is good to give up at least 2-3 sacks on Dean Spanos’ huge, multi-million dollar investment (Rivers).

Sit

All of the Chargers. Enough said.

I would apologize for the negativity, but I think the Chargers are going to be awful this week for multiple reasons, mainly that they have nothing realistic to play for, and the tank is on. It hurts me as a fan, and if the Chargers suck again this game I’m sure I’ll turn it off again. I am a fan, but I have no obligation to watch my favorite team stink up the field.
