At this point in time, the San Diego Chargers are all but mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. Thus, we are left with the question, "do we root for our hometown team to win as many games as possible or do we turn our attention to the future and root for losses and a higher draft pick?" Or more succinctly, "are we down with the tank?"
I tend to be less emotionally invested in the outcome of the games once there is no longer a possibility of making the playoffs and so for me, it is relatively easy to start rooting for losses and a higher draft pick. For others, especially those that have invested in season tickets or even single game tickets, they choose to live and die with every game and thus they would take 7-9 over 4-12 every time. There is also, for some, probably less interest in looking to the future when the team seems to be trying to leave town.
This week's poll question then is, "are you down with the tank?"
