Gates (5 catches, 75 yards) caught a touchdown pass to cap the first drive, putting ground-oriented Tennessee in a hole and leaving the eight-time Pro Bowler three TD receptions behind Tony Gonzalez for the most all-time by an NFL tight end.

The Chargers led 16-0 after their first three possessions, but Tennessee came back with 21 of the next 24 points to take a 21-19 lead early in the third quarter. Gordon and the offense were buoyed by the Chargers’ opportunistic defense, which scored touchdowns off two Marcus Mariota turnovers -- one a Dwight Lowery 36-yard fumble return and the other a 33-yard interception return by Brandon Flowers for a score in the fourth quarter.

While the Titans got the ball back after the Chargers kicked a field goal in the fourth quarter, they didn’t hold onto it for too long.  Facing a crucial 3rd-and-6 from their own 29, Marcus Mariota lobbed a pass in the direction of Kendall Wright.  However, Brandon Flowers cut in front of the receiver to pick off the ball and run it back 33 yards for the touchdown.
