Going into week 9 the Chargers will be without a number of starters, including both ILB’s (Brown, Perryman) and rookie TE Hunter Henry.
Our #TENvsSD inactives:— #TENvsSD (@Chargers) November 6, 2016
CB Craig Mager
S Jahleel Addae
ILB Denzel Perryman
ILB Jatavis Brown
C Max Tuerk
TE Hunter Henry
OLB Jerry Attaochu
We were already aware of Mager, Brown, and Henry being out as it was announced earlier in the week. Perryman, Attaochu, and Addae had previously been listed as doubtful, so no surprises there either. Tuerk has been inactive most of the season as well, so overall there really should be no shock to any of the names listed here.
This will likely leave the starting ILBs as Joshua Perry and Korey Toomer. Toomer has been impressive overall in his limited time in San Diego, so getting more of a look at what he can do is somewhat exciting. Joshua Perry, fourth round pick in the 2016 draft, has seen more playing time as the season has gone on and I’m sure will see the most snaps of his career today. Chargers announced that Kyle Emanuel could see playing time at ILB as well.
This could present a bit of a concern as the Titans have a strong running game as well as a great TE in Delanie Walker. That type of presence in the middle of the field, with a few inexperienced depth guys, is something to definitely keep an eye on.
