Today, the San Diego Chargers announced that they have signed cornerback Trovon Reed to the active roster from the practice squad. He replaces Brandon Mebane after the veteran nose tackle was placed on the Reserve-Injured list following the biceps injury he suffered in Week 10 versus the Miami Dolphins.

Reed, a former Auburn Tiger stands 6’0” and 191 pounds. He was originally signed to the practice squad on October 26. He spent parts of last season on the Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins, and St. Louis Rams practice squads after going undrafted. His only in-game action game in three preseason contests with the Seahawks.

He transitioned to playing cornerback during his senior year following four seasons as a wide receiver.

Mebane had solidified the interior of the Chargers defensive line for the first time in years. It will be interesting to see how the defensive line holds up for the last six games without him.
