Should The Chargers Bring Back Norv Turner?

New, comments

The 64 year old coach has resigned from the Vikings. Should the Chargers look at bringing him back?

No. If I could, I’d stop the article right there. [Ed. Note: But there’s a minimum word count for these things.]

Despite him being a brilliant offensive mind, the many failures of the A.J. Smith and Norv Turner have turned me off to a reunion with either of them. Also, the Chargers currently have a Head Coach who is much more suited to be an offensive coordinator and an Offensive Coordinator who is in the perfect job. Frankly, there is no room for Norv Turner in the Chargers organization, and I doubt that the Spanos family wants to bring in a 64-year-old man who is close to retirement, especially after firing him a few years back.

Dean Spanos and company seem hell-bent on creating a huge youth movement within the Chargers. That started with the hiring of Tom Telesco, the hiring of Mike McCoy, and since then, the subtle gutting of the roster in favor of younger players.

Do the Chargers want Norval Eugene Turner back? No. Could he find another job in the NFL? Probably, but I’m not so sure he wants one anymore.
