Open Thread: San Diego Chargers at Oakland Raiders

Can the San Diego Chargers reverse the direction their season is heading and save their head coach's job?

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The Chargers have had a lead at the 2-minute warning of each game this season, but they travel to Oakland today with a record of 1-3. There they will meet the Raiders who sit at 3-1 in second place in the AFC West. The Chargers are without many of the players they were counting on going into the season, but for the first time this year they will have the services of their first round pick from the 2016 NFL Draft. Joey Bosa is finally making his professional debut and that is good for at least a small amount of optimism.

Perhaps looming larger than any other storyline is that these next two games will reportedly decide the fate of head coach Mike McCoy. After lucking their way into the playoffs in McCoy's first season as head coach, the Chargers have had worse records in each subsequent year, and this year's series of collapses doesn't suggest that the trend has changed.
