Joey Bosa has me thinking playoffs

John Gennaro is already dreaming about the San Diego Chargers making the playoffs.

A wise man once told me that the smartest thing to do when you realize you’re wrong is to get up on the highest platform and, in your loudest voice, admit that you were wrong. So, here goes.....

I WAS WRONG ABOUT JOEY BOSA

Somewhere in this podcast from March, you’ll find me incredulously questioning Garrett Sisti’s sanity when he tells me that the player he most wants the San Diego Chargers to draft is Ohio State DE Joey Bosa.

I, like many others, thought that Bosa was a poor fit for the Chargers’ defensive scheme. I also thought that John Pagano was not creative enough to find ways around that. I was wrong about both of those things, too.

Mostly, though, I thought Bosa was one of those “NFL-ready but lower-potential” type of draft picks. Those guys are never exciting. They are never franchise-changing or franchise-saving players unless they’re Quarterbacks. Again, I couldn’t have been more wrong.

However, I am now fully on-board. I have been begging for this team to have a consistent pass-rush for years now, since Shawne Merriman’s knee injury, and they finally have it. It’s not entirely Bosa’s doing, but he is the biggest factor.

As long as Bosa keeps the pass-rush dangerous, the Philip Rivers remains upright, there aren’t many teams left on the schedule that are scary matchups for San Diego. You know what that means.....

PLAYOFFS, BABY!!!
