The San Diego Chargers’ other starting inside linebacker has apparently suffered an injury and Denzel Perryman is questionable to return to the field. San Diego has had at least one player lost to a season-ending injury in each of their first three regular season games. Thankfully, this does not appear to be that kind of situation at all, though with the Chargers’ luck, I would not put it past them.
With Perryman sidelined, rookie linebackers Joshua Perry and Jatavis Brown are forced to man the middle of the defense. That may have been the linebacker corps of the future envisioned by Tom Telesco and the front office, but they definitely did not want to be forced into fielding it in week four of the regular season.
Both players have acquitted themselves well thus far, but the Chargers just keep getting thinner and thinner at inside linebacker. They cannot afford another injury.
