Hi, everybody. I have some bad news for you all: The San Diego Chargers are a bad football team and organization. Like, really bad.
The Chargers should be put on the same level with the Jaguars, Browns, 49ers and Bears, and not just because each of those teams also has one win or less this season.
Those are the current franchises that can’t seem to do anything right (although I do think Hue Jackson will turn around the Browns once he figures out how to protect his QBs), and the Chargers fit in better with them than they do the rest of the teams in the AFC West or better than they fit in with potential playoff contenders.
Dean Spanos has put us, the fans, in this position by being unwilling to spend money on a decent GM and Head Coach. The Head Coach has made things worse by being unable or unwilling to change from his ridiculously conservative ways.
The players haven’t helped, but it’s not exactly their fault when the GM is drafting and signing guys that can’t stay healthy. It’s also not Melvin Gordon’s fault that the team traded up to get him or drafted him way before he should’ve been.
This is a top-down failure and it’s time to admit that this fruit is rotten. It’s time to blow it all up, although the closest thing we’ll get to that is when Mike McCoy is fired on Friday, following a bludgeoning at the hands of his previous employer.

The above podcast is about as angry as I’ve ever been at the Chargers. I’ve all but given up. You can practically taste the bile in this tweet I sent out last night:
Super looking forward to being a Los Angeles Rams fan next season.

And, while we had some audio issues, I had my sentiments mostly confirmed by Ben Higgins this afternoon on today’s Bolts On Tap:

I hope seeing me vent my frustrations helped you to get rid of some of yours. In a season as garbage as this one is turning out to be, all Chargers fans need to do what we can to help each other.
