With the 3rd overall pick, the San Diego Chargers select...

After only being able to manage a disappointing 4-12 record, the San Diego Chargers will select 3rd in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

With the regular season over, the top 20 picks in the 2016 NFL Draft are set. The (for now) San Diego Chargers could only put 4 in the win column this season and with an ever-so-slightly weaker schedule than the 4-win Dallas Cowboys, the Chargers get to pick 3rd in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Here are the full top 20 picks that are locked in:

Position Team Record Strength of Schedule
1 Tennessee Titans 3-13 .492
2 Cleveland Browns 3-13 .531
3 San Diego Chargers 4-12 .528
4 Dallas Cowboys 4-12 .533
5 Jacksonville Jaguars 5-11 .473
6 Baltimore Ravens 5-11 .508
7 San Francisco 49ers 5-11 .539
8 Miami Dolphins 6-10 .469
9 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6-10 .484
10 New York Giants 6-10 .498
11 Chicago Bears 6-10 .548
12 New Orleans Saints 7-9 .504
13 Philadelphia Eagles 7-9 .508
14 Oakland Raiders 7-9 .512
15 St. Louis Rams 7-9 .528
16 Detroit Lions 7-9 .536
17 Atlanta Falcons 8-8 .478
18 Indianapolis Colts 8-8 .500
19 Buffalo Bills 8-8 .508
20 New York Jets 10-6 .441

This is both a blessing and a curse. First, how could the 3rd pick bad?

Well let me start by saying picking 3rd is only bad in a "first world problems" kind of way. Picking 3rd means that both Ohio State DE  Joey Bosa and Ole Miss LT Laremy Tunsil could be gone. Those two players should be choices 1a and 1b on Tom Telesco's board. And that's about it. Nothing else about this pick sucks unless you're a blogger trying to predict what the team will do here because there are so many damn options.

On to the good stuff: options.

The Chargers will have a bunch of options at 3. They stand a good chance at Bosa or Tunsil, they could also try and go for FSU Safety Jalen Ramsey, they could take the top WR in the draft in Laquon Treadwell from Ole Miss, or since there are so many holes to fill and some QB-needy teams might get trigger happy, they could try and trade down and grab up more picks.

If it's me, I'd have to take either Bosa or Tunsil if they are there. If they aren't I'd try like hell to trade down where I still might have a chance at both Ramsey and Treadwell since taking them at 3 could be a little bit of a reach.

Really there isn't a whole lot that Tom Telesco or Mike "best 53" McCoy can do to mess this up, but if we learned anything over the last year, it's that the Telseco-McCoy Duo will usually find a new and mind-boggling way to let us all down.
