According to the San Diego Union Tribune's Kevin Acee, San Diego Chargers tight end Ladarius Green may have suffered a concussion in practice:
Ladarius Green, the man who is supposed to replace Antonio Gates the first 4 weeks, is being evaluated for possible concussion. #Chargers

Disaster may not be a strong enough word for this situation. The Chargers offense has been based around having a highly skilled pass-catching tight end for roughly a decade. Future Hall-of-Famer Antonio Gates is suspended for the first quarter of the NFL season, and Green was the only remotely credible replacement on the roster. If he is unable to go against the Detroit Lions, the offense will have a hole they cannot realistically fill.
Kyle Miller and David Johnson are not threats in the passing game and Frank Reich will have to vastly alter his offensive game plan if they're all he has available. Philip Rivers is one of the game's best quarterbacks and the Chargers have a deep receiving corps, but this would really hurt.
