The San Diego Chargers signed nine guys to their practice squad yesterday, and added one more today in Michael Ola.
The practice squad rules changed before last season, increasing the number of players on it from 8 to 10, and allowing teams to sign a maximum of two players that have accrued one NFL season. That's helpful, because Ola accrued that season last year when he started 12 games for the Chicago Bears (playing every offensive line position besides Center) and Alex Bayer accrued that season last year when he played on the Green Bay Packers' special teams unit.
Here's the full, final 10 guys that the Chargers will start the season with on their practice squad:
- CB Greg Ducre
- WR Javontee Herndon
- G Michael Huey
- LB Ryan Mueller
- S Adrian Phillips
- RB Dreamius Smith
- DT Damion Square
- QB Brad Sorensen
- TE Alex Bayer
- OL Michael Ola
Looks like a solid group, and should help the Chargers if they run into any major injury spells during the season.
