The Chargers added a 9th member to the 10 man practice squad. Former Rams TE Alex Bayer. Bayer has good size at 6'4" 258lbs. He was active for 6 games last year for the Rams but only managed a total of 5 snaps.

Bayer was picked up as an UDFA in 2014 from Bowling Green. His draft scouting profile on NFL.com lists him as a high effort player who has reliable hands but won't wow anyone with his athleticism, and is a decent and willing blocker. Bayer is likely insurance in case one of the other TE's gets injured before Gates is reinstated in week 5.
The Chargers still have one spot left on the practice squad which will likely be filled tomorrow.
