The news is flying in now.
Chargers rookie WR Tyrell Williams has been informed he made 53-man roster, source says. Javontee Herndon did not. Will be waived.— Michael Gehlken (@UTgehlken) September 5, 2015
He's going to need a new jersey number...
Tyrell Williams has been a favorite of San Diego Chargers fans this year, as he has a unique package of size, speed, and precise-route running. Great to see he made the cut.
Herndon probably wasn't going to make the team, but he put up a pretty good fight in camp.
If we think the Chargers are going to keep six WRs, here's what that group now looks like:
- Malcom Floyd
- Keenan Allen
- Stevie Johnson
- Dontrelle Inman
- Jacoby Jones
- Tyrell Williams
Inman is maybe at risk to be cut, and Jones hasn't had a great camp (after signing as a free agent in the offseason), but it's less likely to happen than many other cuts on the roster.
That's 7 announced cuts now, which leaves 15 that will come out in the next 90 minutes.
