Chargers took away Lions star "Megatron" - Tom Krasovic (UT$)
"They were playing a lot of man under, man over the top," said Johnson, who is noticeably thinner this year. "Those are small windows you've got to find. But a lot of times, when the quarterback sees it, I'm not in the read process, really."

Chargers get ship turned around - Nick Canepa (UT$)
"I threw two interceptions and they had us down 21-3 and we felt we had ’em on the ropes," said Rivers, who threw his 254th touchdown pass as a Charger, tying Dan Fouts’ team record. "They weren’t going to stop us, and that’s a good defense we were playing. We had a lot of guys catching the ball. Frank (offensive coordinator Frank Reich) got into a rhythm calling plays and we were able to get in some good checks."

Chargers Shut Down Lions' High-Flying Attack - Ricky Henne
"When you take away what they do best which is throwing to Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, I think the (secondary) did a good job moving around, mix and matching zone coverage, and disguising coverage.  They didn’t know what I was doing.  I’m acting like I’m blitzing to get guys free.  When Matthew Stafford tried to force it in there is when we were in position to make plays.  It was a great team effort, and great adversity that we hit early being down 21-3.  We could have tanked the game and said ‘It’s not our week,’ but we battled back and showed what type of character we have."

Chargers Storm Back to Beat the Lions - Hayley Elwood & Ricky Henne
The rookie fifth round pick showed his strong preseason was a sign of things to come, as the outside linebacker made a number of game changing plays.  Emanuel recorded his first sack of his career when he wrestled Matthew Stafford to the ground for a 13 yard loss on third down.  In the second half, he sprawled out for a diving interception for the first pick of his career to set up the offense at midfield.  He later pressured Stafford off his spot into throwing on the run, right into the arms of Patrick Robinson for the Chargers’ second pivotal interception.
