Projecting the San Diego Chargers 53-man Roster

After a few practices, here is my best guess at what the San Diego Chargers 53-man roster will look like at the start of the 2015 NFL season.

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego Chargers are now in full-swing of training camp and have already had to make a few roster moves. Before the team chooses (or is forced) to make even more, I wanted to take this opportunity to knock out my best guess at what the roster will look like.

Right now this is based on what I've seen of them in the NFL/college and what others have reported seeing at camp. I'll be attending training camp myself here pretty soon, so I'm sure my opinions will be changing on some guys, for what that's worth.

I'm sure there won't be too many shockers here, but here it goes...

QB

Philip Rivers

Kellen Clemens

No real surprises here, don't think there's any changes from last season.

HB

Melvin Gordon

Branden Oliver

Danny Woodhead

Donald Brown

I'm a big fan of Jahwan Edwards and would love for him to make this team over Donald Brown, but it seems Tom Telesco is still sold on Brown being a contributor on this roster. I feel Edwards is likely destined for the practice squad.

TE

Ladarius Green

John Phillips

David Johnson

Brian Parker

Antonio Gates won't count against the roster for the first four weeks, so a newcomer will be kept at least until then. David Paulson has the NFL experience and is still young, so I think Parker will have to take the job from him. From the little I've seen of Parker, I think he can get the job done.

WR

Malcom Floyd

Keenan Allen

Stevie Johnson

Jacoby Jones

Dontrelle Inman

Titus Davis

Admittedly, I have been a huge Titus Davis fan since before the draft. I couldn't believe he didn't get drafted as early as the fourth round. I think he offers the biggest upside not only this season but also going forward.

Austin Pettis has been getting some great reviews so far in camp and it seems a good number of fans like Tyrell Williams because they want a big-bodied guy to be the next Vincent Jackson. I also really like what I saw in Javontee Herndon in camp last season but I don't think he makes the roster. I'd expect him to be a prime candidate for the practice squad again.

OT

King Dunlap

D.J. Fluker

Chris Hairston

For the purposes of this breakdown, I'm leaving Fluker at tackle until something officially changes. Also, because he seems to be getting a lot of snaps at guard, I'm putting Barksdale down as an OG. I don't think there's much of a battle to be had beyond these guys baring a major surprise in camp.

OG

Orlando Franklin

Johnnie Troutman

Joseph Barksdale

Jeremiah Sirles deserves to be on a roster. I don't think he makes this one, and don't expect him to last to the practice squad again.

C

Chris Watt

Trevor Robinson

DE

Corey Liuget

Kendall Reyes

Ricardo Mathews

Mitch Unrein

Darius Philon

I think that if Palepoi didn't go to IR, either Philon or Unrein would not have made the team. This is a position I could see the Chargers targeting once guys start getting released to upgrade.

NT

Sean Lissemore

Ryan Carrethers

OLB

Melvin Ingram

Jerry Attaochu

Tourek Williams

Kyle Emanuel

Cordarro Law

I really like what Colton Underwood did last year in camp and preseason, I just don't think he can break in to the top five at this position. If anything, that last spot would be between Underwood and Law. I want Underwood on the practice squad again ideally.

ILB

Manti Te'o

Donald Butler

Kavell Conner

Denzel Perryman

Don't think there's much of a battle here, unless they decide to keep five ILB here. If that's the case, I'd expect Curtis Grant to be the guy.

CB

Jason Verrett

Brandon Flowers

Patrick Robinson

Steve Williams

Craig Mager

Chris Davis

Richard Crawford and Chris Davis is what I have it coming down to for the last spot. I give it to Davis due to his experience last season as well as his added value on special teams.

FS

Eric Weddle

Darrell Stuckey

Adrian Phillips seems to keep hanging around, but don't see a battle here.

SS

Jahleel Addae

Jimmy Wilson

I really want to see Lowdermilk and Hill, but these two are locks to make the team so it will be hard for the young guns to break in.

ST

K Nick Novak

P Mike Scifres

LS Mike Windt

Don't think there's any change here, though I'm looking forward to seeing Lambo kick.

So there we have it, let me know how much I messed this up in the comments section.
