What to Watch for: Chargers at Cardinals (preseason)

What should fans of the San Diego Chargers be looking for in tonight's game?

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

D.J. Fluker

Technically, this is Fluker's second game at a new position. However, he played so little at Right Guard against the Cowboys that this could still be considered his first game out there. Let's see how far along he is.

Despite not having Melvin Gordon out there in the starting lineup, I'd like for a few runs to go right behind Fluker to show off his best asset (his straight-ahead run blocking).

Receivers

Can Ladarius Green find a way to get his name called? Can Keenan Allen and Stevie Johnson get open against a good defense? How much will Gates be involved? Lots of unanswered questions for this group.

Pass Rush / OLBs

How long will it take for Kyle Emanuel to get in the game? The coaching staff has been using him a lot in a Jarret Johnson-type role in practice, which would keep Jerry Attaochu in the role of "pass rush specialist". That's something I definitely want to see.

Melvin Ingram still needs to show me that he can consistently get to the QB, rather than consistently getting near him, so this will be an important game for him.

Donald Brown

I mentioned this earlier, but Melvin Gordon's absence gives Donald Brown a big opportunity to lock up a roster spot tonight. Can he do it?

Jason Verrett

He'll be going up against a very good receiving group tonight, including Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd and John Brown. Will he live up to the preseason hype?
