For the second week in a row, I will not be able to watch this week's San Diego Chargers preseason game live on my big, beautiful, newly-purchased HDTV because CBS 8, which is a free channel that any old idiot can get with an antenna, has demanded that Directv pay a little more to carry their channel than the local affiliates for NBC and ABC.
I hate this. It's the worst. I am part of a household with an NFL fan that doesn't root for the local team, which means I am stuck with Directv. It also means that I have a better chance of watching a team from the other side of the country than the one that resides in San Diego. All of this during a year in which the team appears ready to leave town. Can life be any more frustrating than being a Chargers fan?
Anyway, enjoy the game. Here's how you can (try to) watch it:
Location: University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, AZ
Game time: Saturday, August 22, 10 PM Eastern/7PM Pacific
TV channel: CBS-8 in San Diego, CBS-2 in Orange and Los Angeles counties
National TV: NFL Network (blacked out locally)
TV announcers: (CBS) Spero Dedes (play by play), Dan Fouts (color), Alex Flanagan (sideline); (NFL Network) Dan Hellie, Kurt Warner, LaDainian Tomlinson
Radio: Rock 105.3 FM (Josh Lewin, Cutis Conway, Nick Hardwick)
Online streaming: NFL Game Pass
Enemy blog: Revenge of the Birds
