Would you root for the San Diego Raiders over the Los Angeles Chargers?

If Mark Davis gives up on Oakland and makes the trek to San Diego, would you support the silver and black?

Stan Liu-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday, the Los Angeles New Group's Vincent Bonsignore floated the idea of the Oakland Raiders filling the void left by the San Diego Chargers moving to Los Angeles.

If the Chargers move to L.A. - and assuming nothing is happening in Oakland - San Diego automatically emerges as an extremely desirable landing spot for the Raiders, who have insisted all along they aren't demanding a new palace as much as they are a fair, modest, contemporary stadium that fits their needs and the needs of their fan base.

This raises the question, "Could San Diego Chargers fans support the San Diego Raiders?"

Some fans have insisted they'll be "done" with the Chargers if they move, but could they support a franchise they have hated for decades? It's hard to imagine, but there will be a real attraction to root for the home team.

This will really test whether people are fans of the Chargers franchise or merely the "local sports team." Which will matter more: years of rooting for the lightning bolt or the convenience of attending a game less than an hour from home?
