San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, County Supervisor Ron Roberts, and City Attorney Jan Goldsmith, decided yesterday's post meeting written statement was insufficient. They decided to have a press conference today to further elaborate on their position in the current stadium negotiations with the team, and they did not hold back. Here are some quick quotes and reactions:
Mayor Kevin Faulconer: "The Chargers have apparently declined any options we have provided."

Goldsmith going all "For the Watch" to Fabiani right now. This is impressive.

Mayor Faulconer: "We have been working hard to keep the Chargers in San Diego. While the Chargers have been working hard to move to LA."

Faulconer "the Chargers have not brought any alternatives to the table..they say SD is their 1st choice but actions speak louder than words"

Goldsmith: this is a replacement building, that's why there is an exemption.

Goldsmith: Mark (Fabiani) is a friend of mine, but he's not a CEQA guy.

The City then reiterated their stance of wanting to continue negotiations and keep things open.
Roberts: There is no guarantee on any EIR, you can be sued over anything you do... What we need is a guaranteed partner.

Faulconer "The Chargers have declined to discuss financial terms...if San Diego is their first choice, we need them to re-engage."
