We knew the Citizens Stadium Advisory Council – the group appointed by San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer to spearhead the search for a viable stadium plan in San Diego – was expected to announce their financing plan on May 20th. Well, Christmas has come early this year because the CSAG will be announcing their financing plan todayat 1:00PM PDT.
The announcement will be held at the San Diego County Operations Center, and speakers include:
- Adam Day, Chairman, CSAG
- Jerry Sanders, President & CEO of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce (and former mayor of San Diego)
- Nick Hardwick, former Pro Bowl Center who played for the Chargers his entire 10-year career
- Rafael Alvarez, who heads Bolt Pride and helps lead Save Our Bolts, which represent more than 20,000 Chargers fans
- Dan Meis, Founder and Managing Principal at MEIS, a New York-based stadium architecture and design firm
In addition to the above-mentioned speakers, the CSAG will also be providing renderings and a model of a the proposed multi-use stadium in Mission Valley. This is a surprising change since they had previously said they wouldn't be providing renderings.
And as a little teaser, here's a preview of what we might hear in today's press conference:
