2015 NFL Draft: San Diego Chargers select CB Craig Mager with 83rd pick

In the third round, with the 83rd overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers drafted Craig Mager, a raw cornerback from Texas State.

With holes at pass-rusher, offensive line and defensive line, the San Diego Chargers used their 3rd Round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft to pick up.....

Hmmm, well, okay.

Craig Mager from Texas State is a guy that nobody really knew about until recently, when he posted some great numbers at the NFL Combine. Mike Mayock just described him by saying, "He's as raw as raw can be."

Most agree that he is nowhere near ready to get on the field, but there is potential for him to turn into something special down the road because of his mental and physical abilities.

I'm assuming this pick is meant to bolster the CB depth behind the oft-injured Jason Verrett and Brandon Flowers, which took a hit when Shareece Wright left via free agency, but I'm not even sure it does that.

Whatever the case, the Chargers sure are getting the guys that they want to get. However, they're passing on some big names on the process. Trey Flowers, La'el Collins, and T.J. Clemmings were all passed up on this selection.
