Rumors have swirled outside Chargers Park about the future of Philip Rivers.  Telesco wanted to make things "crystal clear" as he explained the team has every intention to keep number 17 wearing the bolt for "a long, long, long time":

Chargers look to extend Eric Weddle - Michael Gehlken (UT$)
General Manager Tom Telesco expressed confidence Wednesday that the All-Pro safety will remain a Charger long term. Weddle, who has one year left in his contract, has skipped voluntary workouts this week following a void of activity to get a new deal done. Telesco said that talks will initiate some time after the April 30 to May 2 draft.

Rivers is entering the final year of his contract. The Chargers have made an earnest effort to sign him to an extension; however, their effort to date has been unsuccessful. Earlier this offseason, Rivers expressed inclination to play out his deal.
