It's been a busy weekend of rumors for San Diego Chargers fans. The team was supposedly making a push for big name free agents like Ndamukong Suh, Randall Cobb, and Mike Iupati. Two of them have signed big time deals while Iupati remains an option.
Well, there will be no more rumors about their #1 target, as San Diego reached an agreement to bring back Brandon Flowers, who is coming off a season where he only allowed a completion percentage of 56% while going against number 1 receivers. Flowers also led the team in interceptions. This is huge for the team and a secondary that only was returning Eric Weddle and Jason Verrett as guys that could be counted on.
Chargers and CB Brandon Flowers reached agreement on a 4-year deal, per league sources. Deal to be signed this week.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 8, 2015
Four-year contract for Chargers CB Brandon Flowers worth $36 million, sources say. Flowers, Jason Verrett, Eric Weddle formidable trio.— Michael Gehlken (@UTgehlken) March 8, 2015
Telesco is off to a good start. The team was one of the worst return units in the league and they signed Jacoby Jones. Flowers will give them a strong duo at one of the premier positions in the game. If they're able to sign Iupati or Orlando Franklin to bolster the offensive line, that's just icing on the cake. The team needs to add/retain good players and they are headed in the right direction. Rejoice, you guys!
