Recently released by the Baltimore Ravens, Jacoby Jones immediately drew interest from the Chargers, who have lacked a dynamic kick returner since the departure of Darren Sproles.
Jones, who will be 31 by the start of the 2015 season, can earn up to $5.5 million over 2 years in San Diego. He has 9 career touchdowns as a returner (kickoffs and punts combined), including at least one kickoff return score in each of the last 3 seasons.
This signing could very well affect the potential signing of the other Chargers receivers. Can they afford to have 2 special teams specialists at receiver and bring back Seyi Ajirotutu? Will they they be willing to pay Eddie Royal knowing his value as a punt returner is diminished? We will know soon enough, as the real fun begins Tuesday, March 10th.
