In what is hopefully the first of a few key free agent signings this offseason, the San Diego Chargers have re-signed King Dunlap. The deal is for $28 Million (per Michael Gehlken of the UT), however we do not know the breakdown of that money at this time.
This is a key signing for the Chargers, and I'm sure has made Philip Rivers a happy man. If Dunlap had left there would have been a huge hole to fill on the offensive line. With Dunlap returning, the Chargers will only have 2 positions to fill, and some flexibility to do it.
With DJ Fluker possibly playing RG or RT, and Chris Watt playing either OC or OG, the Chargers need two players but they can really look at 4 positions to do it.
As far as internal free agents go, the team, I would hope, can now shift their focus to Brandon Flowers. Kudos to Tom Telesco and his staff for not messing around and getting this done now.
